Hello, my name is Denby, and I’m a Great Grey owl. My Latin name is Strix Nebulosa which is derived from the Latin word Nebulosus meaning misty or foggy, and I’m the provincial bird emblem of Manitoba, Canada. My large, circular facial disc has many dark concentric rings which reminded Sam of pottery – that’s how I got my name. In the wild, we can be found from Alaska, across Canada, down the northern Rocky Mountains and northern Minnesota, and also across northern Europe and Asia.
