Hello, my name is Lucy. I’m a female Little Spotted Owl. I hatched on 9th May 2009. A lot of people think I’m a baby as I weigh the same as 5 sugar cubes.
I used to inhabit Ireland but I can’t be found here nowadays, I can be found in England, Wales and Scotland.
To get a better idea of distance, I will try to look at interesting objects from as many angles as possible, so this will explain the bobbing and weaving mannerisms that I sometimes do.
My Latin name is Athene Noctua. In Greek mythology, Athene the Goddess of Wisdom was so impressed with my species, she honoured us by making the Little Spotted Owl her favourite.
In the wild I live in orchards, hedgerows, drystone walls and derelict buildings.
I eat day old chicks and chopped up rats. Sometimes I eat quail and rabbit, but mice are my favourite, I love them so much I can eat 5!
